"For a seed to achieve its greatest expression, it must come completely undone. The shell cracks, its insides come out and everything changes. To someone who doesn't understand growth, it would look like complete destruction."
~ Cynthia Occelli"
I painted this painting directly after coming back from my six month trip to France & French Polynesia. {one of the most pivotal experiences I'd had} It was a "seasonal painting" - a painting which sums up a season of time where one main theme reoccurs throughout the time.
In that time away I certainly felt like my insides were coming out, everything internal I was dealing with emotionally, spiritually, mentally came out - I felt constantly vulnerable, raw and exposed. I made some defining choices in that time which felt like I was dying to several dreams... though I knew that to make those choices I was actually ultimately choosing to live... and flourish & grow, even when I could not see it in that moment. Those choices I made in that season really did prove to be some of the most freeing and life-giving choices I could have made and am flourishing because of it.
Knowing the process of how a plant takes shape and forms into a fruit bearing plant was deeply encouraging in that time as I realized that I was in the stage where a seed is planted and dies to bring life.
